Romania provide the Shocks
In a group of
death you would expect the top teams to go through without any issues.
Not in this case. In a group that contains the likes of Holland,
France and Italy a team widely expected to be the first out of the
Euros has proven they are no push over.
This team is Romania.
Romania themselves had come through a tough qualifying group with
Holland. They hadn’t even lost to Holland in the qualifying
stages. But when they were drawn in the group of death, Group C,
they were widely expected to fail. The attention on the group was
on who would qualify out of the three giants Holland, France and
Italy, not how well Romania would do.
But in the first game of the group the likes of Ribery, Malouda
and Henry were on the back foot against the stars of Romanian football
Mutu, Chivu and Marica. Romania held out for a very impressive draw
against the World Cup runners up France.
They next set their sights on Italy. The world champions. Could
they repeat their heroics?
Adrian Mutu thought so. He put Romania ahead after some awful defending
from AC Milan’s new signing Zambrotta. But only seconds later
a header from Christian Panucci put Italy back on level terms. Romania
then provided another shock when they were awarded a penalty. Could
Italy be out of the Tournament already?
No, said Gianluigi Buffon. His heroic penalty save from Adrian Mutu
spared Italy’s blushes. With another draw in there hands Romania
can do themselves proud.
But how far can they go?
By Kosak.

Will
he stay or will he go? Thats the question.
